Temecula Valley Malbec 2014

Drinking the 2014 in 2021. Thick long lasting legs. Rich bouquet, with blackberry, currant and cassis with a light oak hint. Rich flavorful wine. Dark ripe fruit, oak and dark berry with a smooth finish. Very nice wine! — 3 days ago

A Tribute to Grace Wines

Hofer Vineyard Grenache 2019

What can I say I love anything Angela makes, and the new Tribute to Grace tasting room in Los Alamos is a gem. My Dad declared this was his favorite wine ever and my mom is from nearby Cucamonga, so let’s just say everyone was happy. For that reason, wine of our trip out west after not seeing the folks for 18 months. As always, just incredibly elegant Grenache, light on its feet, but not without its nuanced power — 3 months ago

Hamilton Russell Vineyards

Hemel-En-Aarde Valley Pinot Noir 2020

Definitely young and not ready yet. Sophisticated bouquet full of forest floor, leather, spices, wild strawberry and red plum. Juicy, well balanced, but harsh and not as structured as it can be. Shame, but I was risking by taking such a young bottle. — 2 months ago

Scar of the Sea

Lopez Vineyard Zinfandel 2020

Vines from 1918, pre-prohibition on protected land, what’s not to like?

Rich plummy, soupy bouquet.

Rich, fruity forward, a bit of spice. More than your standard Zin, this present almost like a Primitivo.

Savory notes mix with peppercorn spice and smoke and berries all throughout.

Tasty, surprising, and novel.
