Aged 12 Years Single Malt Irish Whiskey

This stuff is dangerous. Smooth, light on the tongue, but not simple. A light gold color, some kind of melon note and vanilla flavors. Great at this price; points for cost/benefit ratio. At Cory's in the freezing cold. — 6 years ago

Barone Ricasoli

Brolio Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2015

Visit the castle, take in the Tuscan views, taste the wine. This Chianti is the essence of its place, sublime. — 8 years ago

Very fine. P was very pleased with it. Just slightly sweet and very smooth. — 8 years ago

Fenny Castle

Barrel Fermented Ortega

Non-barel fermented English ortega. Reminded me of a Marlborough sauv blanc.. Bold, bone dry, racy, sharp goosberries initially but then a smooth finish. Been keeping it 4 or 5 months for Christmas. — 10 years ago

Porongurup Shiraz 2017

Consistent notes from a year ago when we visited the winery in Porongurup WA and spent a wonderful hour with Owner and winemaker Rob Diletti. I love these cool climate peppery Shirazes. Should leave having the next one for a couple of years. — 6 years ago

Clean apple flavor with a funk on the end. If you haven't gotten on board the dry cider wine train, you need to start here. — 10 years ago

Kirk Venge

Croix Starling Morelli Roost Chardonnay 2014

Awesome recommendation from our local wine guy. Hadn't heard of if before, apparently it's a newer project from Kirk Venge. It's the Chardonnay but Delectable doesn't seem to have it in their database. Complex nose and palate of flowers, minerals, slate, apricots, mint, brown butter, blah blah blah. Basically, too many to list, but I like how it tastes a little different each time. Really nice acid and viscosity. Sure to age well. — 10 years ago

Its awesome and definitely worth a try. $80, but that's from a little boutiquesy tourist place in my town. Likely cheaper elsewhere @Ron R

Castello di Amorosa

La Castellana Napa Valley Super Tuscan Blend 2014

This "Lady of the Castle" - La Castellana - is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 15% Sangiovese, 2% Malbec, and 2% Petit Verdot, representing a "Super Tuscan" style with an unmistakable Napa Valley flair.

We bought this wine when we visited Castello di Amorosa in the spring of 2021. Sipping this wine brings us back to that day.

This is the 2014 vintage, offering a deep ruby hue with ripe, robust black cherry, blackberry, plum, and cassis notes complemented by black licorice, tomato leaf, delicate mint, dried oregano, star anise, fennel, nutmeg, vanilla, tobacco, clove, and leather notes with high alcohol clocking in at 14.8% ABV.

It's fragrant, soft, supple, and velveteen on the palate. Delish!

Porongurup Riesling 2016

Tasted blind, presented by Sue Bell. I picked Riesling, Australian and missed Porongurups WA. A brilliant Riesling made by Rob Diletti at Castle Rock WA. Lovely aromatics of Musk and Bath Talc. At 5 years the acid had settled and the citrus was going towards stone fruit. Really enjoyed this. — 5 years ago
