Sweet Red Blend

Very good, sweet but not overly sweet β€” 13 days ago

Reserve Aux Paso Robles Syrah Grenache 2015

Definitely Needs some air, which is a good thing rather than being overly sweet
But still not a great QPR at all as with most I’ve had from Daou, that castle they have is in every bottle πŸ’°πŸ’΅

Castle Rock Estate

Estate Pinot Noir 2019

I like West Australian Pinot harking back to the days when I used to buy Moss Wood Pinot Noir. Tasting this brought all those memories flooding back of the savoury earthy plummy aromas and flavours - mellifluous yet with intensity and length. Rob earnt a Gold Medal for this wine at Royal Perth. I bought a few bottles as I did at Plantagenet later in the day of their Pinot. Excellent stuff. β€” 3 months ago

Central Coast Pinot Noir 2017

A long time Turkey day favorite, that seemed to lose status as a Thankgiving staple has returned with triumph to our table. Velvet and rich, dark garnet. Flavors of blackberries and lingonberry. Loved the sturdy burst of flavor in my mouth. β€” 4 months ago

Porongurup Shiraz 2017

Drank a bottle of this only a week ago so notes are consistent. Rich crimson in colour showing its youth. Masses of black pepper and spice from this cooler year. Medium weight palate with great texture and length. Rob Diletti the winemaker is a big believer in wines being totally expressive of the site they are grown in he told me - β€œAll about the soil”. Terrific QPR. Bought a total of about 4 1/2 dozen from 5 different wineries over here in the Great South and said to send at the end of March. Ridiculously hot in Australia at the moment to be shipping wine. At Little Italy Restaurant in Albany. β€” 3 months ago

Duke's

Reserve Magpie Hill Riesling 2019

Water white in colour. Aromas of Lime Juice, Citrus Peel, Talc and Minerals. On the palate a riot of Lime Juice and Citric Acid of profound intensity finishing bone dry. I can see why James Halliday gave this Riesling 98 points and his Australian Riesling of 2019 because of its sheer purity, power and intensity and its ability to live for 20 years and to keep developing. Sold Out everywhere except for 4 x 6 packs at the Cellar Door of which I bought a 6 pack. Classic Porongorup Riesling. Made for Dukes by Rob Diletti of Castle Rock Estate who I had the pleasure of meeting 2 days ago at his winery for a tasting. β€” 3 months ago

Porongurup Riesling 2019

At Castle Rock Estate Cellar Door having a private tasting with Owner and Winemaker Rob Diletti. This 2019 Riesling had the classic Lime juice Talc and Slate aromas of top quality Porongurup Riesling. Rob also makes the wine for neighbouring Dukes who just received 98 points for their 2019 Riesling from James Halliday. Rob is a lovely bloke and obviously a talented winemaker. Called upon as a Show Judge around Australia. β€” 3 months ago
