It has been awhile since I have had a good Sauvignon Blanc and tonight is one of those nights. I have opened the 2017 Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough New Zealand.
A beautiful expression of Sauvignon Blanc on the nose is I am getting lime, kiwi fruit, nectarine, guava, papaya, herbs and wet concrete.
The palate brings out notes of lime, green apple, white peach, grapefruit, lemongrass, and crushed stone.
This wine is medium bodied with medium + acidity and that leads into crisp clean chalky finish. The weekend is on us and it looks to be a good one so please be safe and have fun. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 3 days ago
These ratings are garbage. This is an extremely high quality everyday SvBc. Flash-pan acidity is perfectly matched with ripe apples, fresh grass and gooseberry and a hint of jalapeño. What more could you want in a young Marlborough. It may not be expensive and it may be mass-produced, but thank your lucky stars that it is. ⭐️ — 10 days ago
Aromatic, sharp crisp, very citrusy, we found it refreshing, could age or mellow a bit — 20 hours ago
Nice one. Quite sour, grassy plus currant notes. With a meal made from Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket: Roasted lemon striped bass, summer squash (with blossoms), shitake mushrooms, and greens with blueberries and currants. — 9 days ago
In the hotel minibar. Very good typical NZ SB. Similar to Vavasour. Definite notes of grapefruit. — 6 days ago
