Aromas of white pepper and spice leap out of the glass. Also transferred on to the medium weight palate. Soft mild tannins- not for cellaring but very good now. This wine has an amazing Show Record at the Royal Queensland Wine Show in 2014 winning the Stodart Trophy for Best One Year old Red; the Trophy for Best Shiraz and then the big one the Best Wine of Show! Made all the more amazing with a price of only $27.95! From a small maker so unlikely to find outside of Australia. — 5 years ago
“Funky Road Medina”! Struck Match, smoky, nutty, leesy - somewhat worked. Too Lean on the palate to be a Trophy Winner for my taste. Light to medium weight palate - citrus and pink grapefruit with Medium acid. This wine was awarded the Trophy for Best Chardonnay at the Royal Queensland Wine Show about a month ago. From Margaret River but leaner than the other famous Chardonnays there like Leeuwin Estate, Heytesbury, Pierro etc. Not cheap at $100 per bottle. Will improve with bottle age. — 8 months ago
Plum, Dust and a little toffee. Fairly closed nose but with time in decanter notes of ginger and marjoram. Wine is a little shy on nose and palate. Tannins are supple and pliant. The following night a bit too cold from the fridge. Comes about because of this brute of a summer we are experiencing in Australia and particularly Queensland. Drought Wind Dust with high temperatures over 40 degrees C and Bushfires for weeks! — 4 years ago
Pale Lemon with a youthful greenish tinge. Aromas of wet straw and starting to develop secondary notes of lanolin and a little toast but a long way to go to reach full maturity. On the palate Citric Acid floods the sides and back of the tongue- mouth puckering. Tastes about 2 years old, not nearly 9 years and at least another 10 years cellaring ahead. Receives no oak influence and only 10.5% Alc. Highly awarded on the Australian Show Circuit with 4 Trophies. from the Royal Queensland Wine Show. From a 10 acre block at the foothills of the Brokenback Ranges in the Hunter Valley. First vintage in 1973 was a labour of love for the partners friends and families with the first grapes carried to the Winery in buckets in the back seat of Len Evans’ Bentley. .....a funny story 😉 — 6 years ago
Another obscure red variety from the south of France like the Durif from a few days ago this isTannat although some researchers say it may have originated in the Basque Country of northern Spain which could be correct as it was taken to Uruguay where it has enjoyed the warmer climate there, similar to Malbec flourishing in Argentina. I first tried this wine in 2016 at the Toowoomba Wine Show where I found it extremely tannic. 4 years of cellaring since then has served this wine from the Granite Belt well. It is another dense black winter wine showing Blackberry and tarry notes with Raspberry and Vanilla. Rich and full bodied with stern tannins but not as tannic as 4 years ago. Barb who doesn’t normally like big reds very much liked this. This wine has now won 3 Trophies in its Show career winning the Champion Alternative Variety Red Wine at the 2016 Queensland Wine Awards. — 4 years ago
Pale to mid Gold in colour. Aromas of wet hay and lemon with some nutty notes developing. On the palate early stages of honeyed characters developing amongst the grapefruit and brisk acidity. An excellent Semillon from the relatively new viticultural area of the South Burnett, 3 hours drive northwest of Brisbane which you would think would be too hot and humid for quality viticulture but Semillon does well in humid warmer climes like the Hunter Valley for example. At the 2016 Queensland Wine Show this wine won 2 Trophies. Could be cellared for many years. — 5 years ago
Semillon Chardonnay - this has to be the most Aussie wine ever. Luscious semillion with tropical fruits at fantastic price — 6 years ago

Good Shiraz. Little spice and pepper and then very smooth mid palate. Long finish. Good value, too. If I wasn’t on a fantastic beach in Northern Queensland, my rating might be a little lower. 😎🇦🇺 — 5 months ago
