Sonoma-based August Sebastiani’s 3 Badge Beverage Corp. (the new name behind Kirk & Sweeney rums, Uncle Val’s gins, and others) has launched its first tequila: Pasote, which is made by Felipe Camerena in the Los Altos region of Jalisco.

Made in part with rainwater instead of just spring water, it’s made using traditional methods and bottled in antique-style glass. The reposado and anejo are aged in former, American oak bourbon barrels. — 2 years ago

Usually not focused on this type of wine, it was a very pleasant tasting. Fresh and tangy attack on currant notes; the body is delicate and complex with extraction that brings relief. The finish is more than honorable on infused, hay, dried herbs notes. Balanced, really well done. 🇨🇭

The nose is really superb, between bright notes of fruit (citrus fruits, apricot stones), barrel notes. Lively mouth, beautiful minerality, gunstone, notes of onion, poultry. Balanced, well-built body. Superb finish also, bringing together the tasting bouquet. Nice pleasure!

Ruby color, limpid, fluid. A nose of red fruits, flowers and woody notes from aging. Bouquet, classic and classy nose. On the palate, the attack is balanced, the body is charming, the tannins of oak barrels and the fruit are well mixed, with notes of red fruits and flowers. The finish unfolds on woody tannins and a tangy return. Without great complexity but balanced. The wine falls quickly, to drink on the opening day.

En bouche l’attaque est équilibrée, le corp est charmeur les tanins de fût de chênes et le fruit sont bien mêlés, sur des notes fruits rouges et fleurs. Beautiful entry-level cuvée by one of the great artisans of the Northern Rhône.
Simple and straightforward Syrah. Nose and attack on fresh black fruits (blackberries, blueberries). Clear neat body, enhanced with touches of violet, white pepper, and slightly minty, characteristic of Syrah ... Final which unfolds admirably with delicately chiseled tannins. Nice bottle to open as an aperitif, on a cold meats and cheese board, ideally accompanied by some fruit and nuts, and a piece of fresh baguette.

Syrah simple et droite tres gourmande. Nez et attaque sur les fruits noirs frais (mûres, myrtilles). Corp limpide soigné, réhaussé de touches de violette, poivre blanc, et légèrement mentholée, caractéristique de la Syrah... Finale qui se déploie admirablement avec des tanins délicatement ciselés. Belle bouteille à ouvrir des l’apéro, sur une planche de charcuterie et fromages, idéalement accompagnés de quelques fruits et noix, et un bout de baguette fraîche. — 6 years ago
