Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.

60% Zinfandel, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, for the 2005 vintage blend. This label features Redhead ducks, which we have commonly seen occupying our beachfront, not this year unfortunately.
Nose has vanilla bean, pipe tobacco, ripe cherry, ripe blackberry, prune (light) and over-ripe plum.
Palate has rich blackberry & cherry, oak plank, chalk (light), dried strawberry, ripe plum and raisin (light).
Beautifully long finish and tannins are long gone; this bottle is at the end of its life, also our last bottle of this vintage. Always interesting to see how long they will hold. The labels have always been a favorite of ours. — 7 years ago

Great wine to enjoy with a friend or alone!
Before I opened, refrigerated for 20 minutes and The more I let it breathe the more I enjoyed the wine. The Tempranillo grape used for this wine, made it a wine I would definitely drink again. — 3 years ago

Really nice Pinot Noir. Drinking it at a business meeting and this made a good meeting better. A perfect touch of tart at the end of a smooth stream of smoothness. Love this Pinot.Testarossa is Italian for redhead and this is one smoking hot redhead. — 7 years ago

Dear McGah family as long as you keep making resplendent wine I will do my best to be a resplendent redhead and wine writer. Oh yah you guessed right I cherish this enchantress even at the beginning although I’m an hour into a decant and boom, but like BOOM the rich ripe tannins are landing on a comfy cushion. Velvet tannins and regal acid stand up to ripping alcohol. Plums, leather, cocoa and cola. Strawberry fruit by the foot. Ripeness, balanced with a green refreshing back drop. As a person I’d aspire to be Scarlett: Rich. Beautiful. And humanitarian (her to your tastebuds and me to the world). Can wine make you a better person? I say yah. Sediment rich auburn redhead. With orange-tinged crown, that shrinks to tiara to tonshu with a snap, leaving only a shrinking island across a flat, rusty pond. Drops of black molasses, cooked, glazed pumpkin, butternut and acorn squashes. Dark rum soaked Dutch chocolate and vanilla wafers and moist pineapple cake. Trifles sporting rum soaked berry and carry-overs of ripe peach and nectarine. Finally date roll, figs ginger, candied lemon peel and dark brown sugar to fill the nostrils with seasonal magicks. Actual pumpkin tastes here! Rich and filled with vanilla bean, Turkish delight, fig fillings, nutmeg, candied ginger, gingerbread in caramel and spiced rum, gin-raisins, coriander, allspice, coffee cremes, clotted cream, clove, just-burnt cinnamon candies, reduced cola, licorice, and orange liqueur with a touch of juniper. Strong, festive, outrageously alcoholic (17.5 abv) delightful, warming, singular and iconic.
