1990 Bruno Giacosa Falletto di Serralunga d'Alba Riserva Barolo. Drank at K's bday lunch at Redd Wood. Drank this after the 1985 Conterno Monfortino Barolo. This wine was much bigger- more fruit and tannins. Great wine and interesting contrast. — 11 years ago
Sharp as a knife. Needed a couple sips to calibrate my palate, but once open, super delicious. Personally, I needed this wine to come up to room temp to tame the edge, but loved it once it did. Great complement to the pan Asian dinner we had at the Redd Bar in Yountville. — 11 years ago

Magnum 1985 Giacomo Conterno Monfortino Barolo. Drank during K's bday lunch at Redd Wood. Interesting to drink this in comparison with the magnum of 1990 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Riserva. So different from each other. This wine was so delicious and elegant. Not as huge as the Giacosa. Awesome. — 11 years ago

One of the more drinkable reds that I have had. The body is medium. It is on the higher side of alcohol at 15% but I wouldn't have guessed that. Medium tannins and acidity. The best part is the sweetness which to me is subtle but dry red fans probably would disagee.
It's got a bright personality and has aromas of spice. I taste redd plums, black cherries, and vanilla. I'd buy it again but might not eat it with steak next time. — 7 years ago
