Conti Costanti

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2016

Delectable Wine
9.7

Cedar and mint hints complement depths of musky red currant and dried cherries as the darkly alluring 2016 Brunello di Montalcino smolders up from the glass. This is a model of purity, with textures of pure silk. It's vibrant, verging on nervous acidity, mixing ripe strawberry with a tart cranberry crunch as orange traces add further depth toward the close. Still structured yet not aggressively so, the 2016 finishes long and staining. A gentle tug of fine tannins adds youthful poise as the cheeks pucker for another sip. This is already showing beautifully, yet patience is recommended. (Eric Guido, Vinous, December 2023)

Azienda Agricola San Salvatore

Campania Falanghina 2021

Delectable Wine
9.0

Sweet smoke, mint and freshly sliced yellow apple make for a pretty bouquet as the 2021 Falanghina slowly blossoms in the glass. Its silky textures soothe the palate, as ripe orchard fruits and spice cascade throughout. This finishes with a grippy tension. Saline minerals and citrus rind pucker the cheeks. There’s a lot of character and layers packed into the crisp Falanghina. Perhaps some cellaring will reveal further depths. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2023) — 2 years ago

Medium bodied. Big tannins. Layered. Give it time to open otherwise the first sip will make you pucker. — 4 years ago

Estate Bottled Barolo Nebbiolo 2013

The nose features fresh plum, rose pedals, vanilla, fennel seeds, and cranberry. The palate starts with tart red fruit and licorice. Salinity, oak and minerals come to fore mid-palate. The tart fruit returns in the finish with high tannins and acid. This is a modern style Barolo with not as much pucker factor, but still requires decanting. — 5 years ago

Château Husson

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2016

Inky, a bit of acid. Pepper and a bit dry - pucker after a taste. I'm a big fan of Chateauneuf, but I've had better. I can't see drinking this on its own. And it will fight with any dish. You'd need something bold - spice and fat to serve it with. — 5 years ago

Vignobles Bodillard
