Petit Gravet Aîné

Château Peyrou

Red Bordeaux Blend 2008

2008 vintage. Catherine Papon-Nouvel produces excellent organic wines (also at her three Saint-Emilion estates Gaillard, Clos Saint Julien and Petit Gravet Aîné) and I consider Peyrou 2016 one of the best values in Bordeaux. Therefore I was very happy to find a bottle of 2008 to see the ageing potential, and it was a pleasant surprise. Fully mature, but by no means tired. Even if the tannins are a little rustic (rather typical for the vintage) and it could do with more length, this is great value at 13 euros and a strong case for the ageing potential of Côtes du Castillon wines. — 4 years ago

Paul Jaboulet Aîné

Le Petit Jaboulet Syrah 2003

This has everything I love in a wine. Zesty and still fresh with a lot of structure and balance. Layers of black fruit, spice and licorice flavors. Just checked the Parker review. One of the greatest Crozes Hermitage ever made. It’s clearly one of the best I’ve ever had. Very highly recommended (by me). 😁 — 6 years ago
