It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Here is a gorgeous Merlot.
Inky in color with a short purple rim.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate and very fruity with blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, chocolates, sweet tobacco and black pepper.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This is a delicious Merlot. Easy drinking and fruit-forward. In your face kind of wine at this point. Extracted and rich.
Delicious right out of the bottle, but still young and needs many years to mature properly. Already yummy, though.
Showing very nice complexity already, which is very nice to see.
Will be nice to revisit it in 5 years.
Paired wonderfully with BBQ Meats.
100% Sugarloaf Merlot grapes. A small production of only 200 cases.
14.9% alcohol by volume.
93 points.

Deep purple in color with a reddish rim.
Beautiful nose with wildflowers, plums, sweet cherries, chocolates, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, herbs, Indian spices, tobacco leaf and peppercorn.
Full bodied, soft and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, herbs, figs, spices, tobacco, chocolates, peppercorn and coffee.
Long tangy finish with fine grained tannins and raspberries.
This is a gorgeous Merlot based Bordeaux blend from Napa valley. Still very young, but already showing complexity and elegance.
Good right out of the bottle, and so much better with airtime. I gave it 3 hours in the decanter to open up properly. The gorgeous nose shows up after 2 hours in the decanter.
Well balanced and fruit forward. Complex and engaging. Rich and elegant.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years, and see how it evolves.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, and would pair nicely with BBQ Meats.
A blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. A small production of only 8 barrels.
14.9% alcohol by volume.
94 points.

This young Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is just gorgeous. Nicely balanced with a great mouthfeel. Spicy and entertaining. Showing a beautiful nose with lots of complexity.
It is very unique to find such a young wine with so much complexity. That's so surprising. Rich, yet elegant. Fruit forward and complex with many layers.
Good right out of the bottle, but so much better after 3 hours in the decanter.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 to 20 years.
Will pair nicely with a big piece of steak, although it is a great sipping wine, that doesn't need food.

This is a fantastic Cabernet Sauvignon from the house of Russell Bevan. Rich and extracted. A big wine that shows restraint and elegance.
Still very young, and needs time to open up properly (2 hours), but very tasty right out of the bottle too. As it opens up, it calms down a bit, and earth notes come in to play.
Elegant and opulent. fruit forward and tasty, with good potential to become a 95+ point wine.
This 4 year old is already delicious, and will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years.
I had the 2016 this year, and it shows good consistency. Will be nice to revisit it again in 5 years.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will pair nicely with a big piece of steak.
