This was outstanding with thick bone in grilled pork chops. Dark cherry smoke finish. — 6 years ago
🤤 I am into this style. Soft and cozy but with its wildness. Memory foam remember how I like to sleep. Weird dreams of being a bad ballerina. The raw but expressive songs of Joanna Newsom. — 8 years ago

Compared to a lot of Roussanne offerings on the Texas wine Trail, this one is Roussanne Elite. To get more specific, compared to the Kuhlman Roussanne, this one is enjoyable but not there as the "go-to." Now the 2012 Newsom Merlot...OK, back on track with this Roussanne. The wine starts off with a very nice lemon and citrus front. Acidity is sharp, although not as sharp as the Chenin they also offer. The awesome part about this wine is what is does in the middle and finish, where it thickens up, has a great number of serendipitous notes from citrus to melon to floral all kind of pop in and tickle your tongue. Finish is quite velvety, yet still maintains a subdued acidity. Really nice, and probably top 10 white wine from the Tx Wine Trail. — 9 years ago
The previous ratings here are complete horse shit. This wine is ahh-mazing. The nose alone has you intoxicated. I don't think I've ever experienced a floral funk perfume before, or not too often. But the nose on this wine is floral, funky and herb rich. The entry of this wine is a dense, full bodied wine that is loaded with fruit up front. Silky mouthfeel, not expected. Robust sweet purple and tart black cherry fruits. The middle and finish are dense, still quite vibrant. Herbal and earthy natures of the wine shows best here. I am hands down completely blown away by this wine. Doug Lewis, you kicked ass and took names with this one! — 9 years ago
Pale gold in color; nectarines, lemons, and honeydew on the nose; high acidity; tastes like lemon zest, grapefruit, and saline with a long finish. Nellie and I really like this wine. — 2 years ago

Outstanding Texas Merlot! When your wife is traveling and you can't open a bottle without her...... Helloooo Coravin! 😂
Delicious Merlot from the Texas High Plains AVA (yes Texas 🇨🇱 has an AVA!) and made by Calais Winery. Owner and Winemaker, Ben, is a mad French scientist when it comes to Texas grapes.
Notes of anise/licorice, rosewater, plum, blueberry, blackberries, and toast.
Aged 22 months in French oak barrels.

Surprised! Very nice cab blend from the Texas panhandle region. Deep purple color. Nose has dark fruits and berries. Maybe a hint of zin pepper on the palate with a nice long finish of cab and oak. — 9 years ago

Hazy, deep ruby in color. On the nose, it's clean with pronounced primary, secondary, and tertiary aromas of black plum, molasses, raisins, and graphite. On the palate, it's sweet with medium acidity, medium tannins, high alcohol, full body, and pronounced primary, secondary, and tertiary flavors of blackberry jam, cinnamon, chocolate, and cedar with a long finish. This wine is complex, and the intense flavors are in balance with the high sugar and alcohol. Overall, I rate this wine as outstanding. Nellie likes it, too. — 10 months ago
