Calcarole Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2011

AEL
9.3

Wow. This is one classy amarone. Well defined notes of dry dirt, dry flowers, and dried fruit on the nose. Smooth and sweet on palate, well balanced. A stunner, a model of its type - tough to picture a better amarone. Gift from Nate. — 4 years ago

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2017

Strong savory, floral notes. Great structure - tannin really backs up the fruit and floral notes. Nice wine. At Smith & Wollensky with Nate and Mary. — a year ago

Estate Club Select Nebbiolo 2012

Wow! My cellar aging project scores another ‘discovery’ win. At almost 10 years from harvest, this Nate Walsh built beauty was doing what aged Nebbiolo is supposed to do! Using Horton fruit (Orange, Va), this bottle has metamorphosed into a seductive herbal-rose tea. It’s acidity is almost non-detectable, yet it was the perfect pairing for Tuscan-sausages & peppers w/creamy mash. The flavors of this Nebbiolo are so alive that they danced effortlessly with the sautéed peppers and complimented the herbs in the locally made Tuscans. Just wow…1 ‘12 remains plus 2 ‘10’s. — 2 years ago

Meritage Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2011

Crazy how legit this 10yr old WET vintage blend is from the DeftHand of Mark Fedor. At his peak, Mark routinely had at least one wine in the governors case… so I f I Brown-bagged this and told you it was Rioja, you wouldn’t argue. The age has melded tannin (wood and fruit) and fruit acid to a cured state of Class. All of this from VINTAGE of limited ripeness. 51% CS, 30% Merlot.... I hope Mark re-emerges at a top-tier Celler so he he can make these wines again. Mark’s last vintage was the 2015 Meritage… The 16 season was finished by Nate since he bought Northgate — 4 years ago
