Domaine Simon Blanchard

Village Montagne Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Approachable Right Bank. Blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet franc from a 0.47 hectare plot in Montaigne Saint Émilion. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in used French oak barrels for 12 months. Intense nose with jammy dark fruit (blackberry, blueberry) aromas, leather, graphite and hints of menthol and violets. Well integrated oak. Medium-to-full bodied, round, juicy blackberry flavors. Smooth, velvety tannins. A great surprise — 2 years ago

Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

Very nice Bordeaux for one so young - pleasant bouquet and that classic French Bordeaux taste - quite good! — 11 years ago

Yeilding Wine

Le Montaigne Red Blend 2009

Nose explodes with cedar, smoky pipe tobacco, vanilla and spice. Taste of cherry jolly rancher turns to chocolate Grenache, cigar, and warm vanilla pudding.

Smooth as silk, long finish. Bold and fruity with lots of interesting flavors lingering on the palette.

Brochet Hervieux

Brut Premier Cru Champagne Blend 2002

From Écueil (Montaigne de Reims). Pinotant, fine and pleasing, v. attractive for who loves Pinot Noir. Noble golden colour with tiny bubbles. On the nose starts with yeast, bread, then it gets typical P. Noir with earthy and even animal notes. Mature, powerful, w. good complexity; as the wine changes in the glass a clear, well focussed note of green apple takes center stage. Equally good mouth with fine minerality along with fruits and some anise. V. good finish, fresh, good length. — 10 years ago
