From our friends at Le Volpe e l’uva in Florence. A simple but really enjoyable nebbiolo from the Langhe. Doesn’t seem to have the backbone for ling ageing...but it’s drinking beautifully right now. Went great with the linguini and basil cream sauce (with tomato and basil chicken meatballs) we made for dinner. Yum! — 5 years ago
Huize Van de Ploeg - beautifully subtle, dry creamy finish. Too easy to drink. — 8 years ago

Excellent Chardonnay to accompany a fantastic “merenda sinoira” with Ferruccio and Anna in Monforte D’Alba. Paired with salami, tuna, stuffed peppers, stuffed chili pepper, hummus, marinated zucchini. Fantastic Saturday. — 6 years ago
2006 Vigna Merenda from the Sarmassa hill. First of a four-pack. Gave it a quick aeration. Fragrant nose, whiffs of raspberry, loads of dark cherry. A little alcohol on the nose. Served a bit cold at first, but nice flavors of bright cherry, anis / licorice. Tight and still young. Next night after more time to breathe, much softer: more what seems to be expected from the Vigna Merenda. Glad I have a few more to work through over the next several years. — 9 years ago

At Stefano’s: The wine was well aged. The tannins were silky with notes of dried red fruit, leather, baking spices, and vanilla. — 5 months ago
