Concreto Mendoza Malbec 2018

Jan A

Malbec. Deep purple rim, black core. Spices and violets on the nose. From calceous soils in the Valle de Uco at 1100m close to the mountains. Whole cluster fermentation and aged in concrete egg shaped vats to optimally preserve the fruit. No oak. Young but drinking well already. Will surely benefit from a few years cellaring. For now93+

El Enemigo

Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc

A wine that highlights on the palate secret flavors camouflaged by velvety tannins from cabernet franc. It exudes a captivating mixture of insinuating minerals to sprout from the earth to the fruits. Lovers who enjoy the pleasure of mutual donation from the region's climate. A wine to make love. A great enemy to defy time. Wine to drink for two or surprise friends. — 10 days ago

Gran Enemigo Argelo Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2013

Jan A

Adrianna Catena and Alejandro Vigil project in Mendoza Argentina. Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc botteling. 100RP / 99JS. Spicey, green pepper, extracted, oak, drying tannins. Dark fruit. Could use some additional time to smoothen the rough edges. 93+
Edit day two: much softer, would store this away for at least 5 years. Solid but not 100points like Parker and JS gave to this wine

Bodega Calle

Reserva Alberti La Mano Derecha Cabernet Sauvignon

Boutique winery out of Lujan de Cuyo. QPR is outstanding. Delivering way above it's price point. Would be fantastic paired with braised short ribs with a spicy basil sauce. — a day ago

Mendoza Malbec 2017

Initial impressions extremely powerful, but mellows in the mouth to a lovely well-rounded flavour. Leaves a faintly smokey impression. Really enjoyable — 3 days ago

White Bones Vino de Parcela Adrianna Vineyard Chardonnay 2016

Shay A

Wednesday Wine Committee from this past week. A fantastic hosting by @joe leatherwood . 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 5 reds, 1 dessert wine. All tasted blind as usual.

The most difficult wine of the day to guess. It was like a super bright Alsatian Riesling mixed with Chablis. Crazy light colored in the glass. Very tart in all aspects. Lemon-lime, limestone, high minerality, and a Fruit Loop like note too (kudos to Weston for picking that up). Steely and sharp on the palate with more citrus and stone fruits, lemon oil and crushed wet rocks. Complex and unique. I called this Chablis.

Had ( & still have some) the 14 White Bones awhile back and really loved it. I think it stood up to just about any quality world stage producer of Chardonnay very well.

Domaine Nico

Soeur et Freres Grand Mere Pinot Noir 2012

Excellent Pinot. Well balanced and with the right astringency. Unlike many pinots from the USA, it doesn’t try to impress you with an excessive alcohol content, but seduces like a burgundy would do. Needs to breathe for a couple hours to open up. Black current and leather notes. — 5 days ago

Terrazas de Los Andes

Cheval des Andes Mendoza Malbec Blend 2012

Serious blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon from high in the Andes blended by a team from Cheval Blanc. Conceived as a Grand Cru level wine this would be a perfect accompaniment to steak or a hearty beef dish. Plenty of tannins on the attack and a very long finish as the wine resolves from the up front Malbec into the smoother Cabernet Sauvignon influence. — 12 days ago
