Les Crayères

Eric Rodez

Cuvée des Crayères Edition 36 Ambonnay Grand Cru Champagne Blend

Popped and poured. The “Cuvée des Crayères” (36th Edition) pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. Initially reticent, this opened over the course of several hours revealing fresh strawberry raspberry, citrus, light brioche, and racy minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. The finish is long. Ultimately, lovely stuff from this biodynamic producer who was once the winemaker at Krug. Disgorged in January of 2024. Drink now through 2034. — 14 days ago

Delicious. Crisp and not buttery. Pinot noir based - blanc de noir. Aged 4 years on lees. No sugar added to make it bone dry! Lots of chalk in soil. — a year ago

Les Grandes Crayères 1er Cru Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs 2015

Chalk, seashell, green apple and green gooseberries. Some lily and honeysuckle. And white pepper on the finish. Powerful, tensely coiled, with screaming acid. Not super approachable now but serious wine that should age well. — 5 years ago

Millésimé Brut La Collection Crayères Champagne Blend 1990

Perfectly aged. I love champagnes that get into the 2nd maturation phase with integrated tertiary aromas and caramel flavor notes. This is just at the right spot right now - if you have the 1990, drink now :) — 5 months ago
