Couldn't ask for a better wine to end my involuntary 2-months streak of no wines. Chardy muscate from old vines planted on gray marl, bought and spun into gold by the Ganevat's after aging on lees for 30 months. Straight out of the gates, it was like sipping on lemon drops and slurping on oysters by the sea. As nice as that was, it was the days after that the wine truly shone. Candied tangerine, ripe stone fruits, lemon zest, baked goods, brioche, toasted almonds, white florals, and a touch of smoke. Long finish driven by fine acidity and chalky minerality. Drank like a great champagne without bubbles. It's a one on the binary scale! — 4 years ago

Easy drinker that paired well with tomatoes. Full and very complex. — 8 years ago
There was no grolleau in the '21 vintage and was replaced by cab franc and pinot noir, which made for a slighly drier wine this time around. Still very enjoyable, with its lovely floral aromas and fruity notes of peach and apricot on the palate. 40% Cabernet Franc, 40% Gamay, 20% Pinot Noir. 9/21/22. — 3 years ago

Les Folies Vouvray 2022
Loire Valley, France 🇫🇷
Overview
Made from 100% Chenin Blanc, this Vouvray showcases the Loire Valley’s signature white grape in a fresh, casual, and fruit-driven style. Vines average 15 years of age, grown on clay-limestone soils under sustainable agriculture practices. Kept on fine lees in vats for micro-oxygenation, it develops extra texture and aromatic lift.
Aromas & Flavors
Bright, expressive notes of ripe stone fruits, yellow peach, apricot, and honey, balanced by crisp citrus zest. Subtle minerality and floral hints linger in the background, enhancing freshness.
Mouthfeel
Light to medium-bodied, with a refreshing, fruity core. Clean acidity frames the palate, leading to a smooth, casual finish. A wine that feels both elegant and easygoing.
Winemaking Notes
Vinified in stainless steel vats and aged on fine lees, which adds depth and subtle stony complexity. Focused on preserving purity of fruit and freshness rather than oak influence.
Food Pairing
Pairs effortlessly with summer salads, grilled fish, sushi, goat cheese, or light poultry dishes. Also a charming aperitif option for warm-weather sipping.
Verdict
A delightfully casual Vouvray that balances ripe fruit, minerality, and freshness. Surprising quality for its approachable style—perfect for everyday drinking and summer occasions. — 4 months ago
