Well developed with varieties of fruit and grass that mix well with the heavy acidity. Stone was apparent, no oak, all steel. Nice subtle minerality mixes in for a refreshing taste. Slight cinnamon/brown sugar mix in for a jelly bean taste. Crisp soft body. — 8 years ago

High acid juicy juicy juicy!! Red jelly bean (jolly rancher brand). Butter fruits, maybe overripe plum. Sensation of fizziness in my nose but it’s a flat wine. Juicy plump slightly overripe strawberries on the nose. Ok I think def watermelon jolly rancher too. YUMMMM!! — 4 years ago

The 2016 ‘The Factor’ Shiraz is a monumental wine from this storied estate. Aged for twenty four months in 40% new French oak, this Shiraz weighs in at 15.0% alcohol — but it shows outstanding poise considering the obvious heat of the vintage. On the nose this wonderfully perfumed Shiraz takes on suggestions of rose water and potpourri with red currant jelly and shades of kirsch and licorice that all meld together in the glass. The palate is dense and plush showing a wonderful sense of minerality and tremendous depth. Layers of mocha, exotic spices, creosote and espresso bean flavors run rampant with the high-toned bright red fruits and minerals. Needs a touch of air.... yeasty bread dough, almond paste, ripe pear and vanilla bean. Creamy smooth mouthfeel with appreciable weight, fruit is concentrated, like pear jelly-bellies, with nutty secondary flavors. Lees aging adds complexity. Smooth to finish with zest and firm acid. Thanksgiving wine number 2. The first of many popped after guests arrived. This poured a nice salmon color into the glass with good bubbles. The entry of this wine is strawberries and young red raspberry. More on the medium-bodied side. This one went to a little bit of tart in the middle, and the finish was a little bit flat with a dried walnut and cranberry characteristic. This complemented Mesquite bean jelly with chili pequin and roasted pecans quite well. Very nice aperitif to the meal, and a nice segue from white wine to red. As far as longevity goes, I definitely think this one has a few more years left before it is time to pop the cork. Just a bit underwhelming. — 6 years ago

Smells like a jelly belly peach flavored jelly bean. Peach, cotton candy on the nose. Wet rocks minerality on the nose as well. Flavors of peach, wet stones, creamy strawberries, perfect amount of tart and acidity. Long, crisp finish. — 8 years ago
