I’m getting citrus and fruity notes from this one. I am surprised I like this. It has a light body and is easy to drink. Yay — 2 years ago

Heritage Livermore Valley Petite Sirah 2006

My last bottle of this vintage and I was concerned that it might be corked. But to my pleasant surprise it was very nice for a 17 year old Petite Sirah. A little smoky at first but then it opened up and was delicious. Retained primary fruit on the pallet but not on the nose. Very light tannins with small amounts of sediment in the glass but quite a bit on the bottle neck. Paired perfectly with rotisserie lamb. — 3 years ago

Nervo Ranch Heritage Alexander Valley Red Blend

Stone fruits, some spice. Piercing acidity. Maybe the blend but drank a bit like a southern Rhone. Didn’t stand up to Melissa Clark’s Hoisin Glazed Pork Bowl. — 5 years ago

Vineyard Under the Mountain Heritage Santa Clara County Red Blend 2023

Zinfandel and Carignan from a 123-year-old vineyard in Santa Clara County in the foothills on the way to Santa Cruz, super juicy and spicy, great depth and length, still super youthful, lovely. To be released 10/28/25. — 9 months ago

Really good! Very similar to a high quality, mature Bordeaux. 30+ minute decant but fades fairly quick so probably doesn’t need it. See previous notes. — 3 years ago

Heritage Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

For the price, the best Cab around. Silky smooth, soft tannins, low to medium acidity. Garnet and clear. For the vintage you would expect it to taste young but it is ready to drink. Cassis, blackberry, dark cherry. Medium finish, medium viscosity. Will only get better with time. — 6 years ago

Drank 2/21/20. Tasting event. Tasting pour.

An early drinking, more ripe style. Black cherry, black currant, magic marker, earth and a touch of underbrush on the bouquet. Black fruit and a hint of pepper on the nose well integrated tannins, full body, long finish.

Yes, but not necessarily the most consistent producer. '16 Seems to be good vintage though, across several producers.

Dolinsek Ranch Heritage Red Blend 2023

I heard Bill Murray on a podcast recently raving about the bramble-berry pie he had the night before, describing the many berries that went into making it so delicious. It’s a fitting description for the current release of Bedrock’s Dolinsek Heritage red too, which is loaded with a rainbow of berry flavors and all their sweetness and bright acidity captured in a bottle instead of a crust. There’s an added bonus of a long, peppery finish thanks to the 70+% Zin in the field blend and some firm, drying tannins that signal a great future ahead. — a year ago

Requires some air but utterly delicious. So different than the ridge ‘pagani ranch’ but equally as insightful with regards to that terroir. Lush, complex and truly ‘American’. Bravo! — 4 years ago

Prob didn’t need to have this btl at the end of the night, but it had a great, sweet richness. Lots of vanilla bean, soft chocolate finesse. What a treat - especially after having a 2017 Imposter early in the nite! Thx Jeff Cohn. — 5 years ago

Frog's Leap

Heritage Blend 2018

Needs some air and likely time in the bottle. Rustic with obvious Napa qualities. Nose is pretty with flowers, dark fruits, berries, bark. Palate is more vanilla and barrel than the nose tells. I’d like to revisit in a year or two. My guess is this is just too young and not completely integrated. Very lovely despite that. — 6 years ago
