Funhouse

Marchesi Antinori

Castello della Sala Muffato Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2008

Nose has honey, tangy dried apricots, toasted hazelnut. Rich and intense, but with surprisingly modest sweetness. Good acidity, and a hint of bitterness in the funhouse finish. — 7 years ago

Alban Vineyards

Lorraine Syrah 2000

A 2000 Lorraine which I found hiding in the back of my cellar. Aromatic funhouse right from the cork pull. Smokey, anise, blackberries, violets (yes, that's right, violets @Dag Zapatero). Terrific texture. Dark fruits and notes of salty venison. Great structure. Highly extracted and greatly concentrated. Lingering finish. Sometimes I think John Alban gets overlooked when people talk about California Syrah. If you haven't tasted his wines, do yourself a favor and get some. — 9 years ago

Early fall in the Heartland. And yes, as a matter of fact, a 1 hour Audouze ala @Bill Bender

This post is filled with great prose and imaginary. While John Alban is under appreciated, Zalto glasses are coveted by even the most novice of cork dork. Zalto's look delicate but stand up to any dishwasher. The prices give you a nose bleed but having the curve of the bowls tilted at the angles which are in accordance to the tilt angles of the Earth makes all the difference. 😜.

What can I say? Late to the Ball as usual.
