My first Dao. Made with Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, and Jean grapes. Lovely flavors of plum, raspberry, dried herbs, and hint of cloves come through on the palate. Has a nice freshness with supple mouthfeel and well-integrated tannins. Somehow the bottle only cost $15, great QPR. Really enjoyed this and would like to explore Dao wines more. Paired well with pan-seared harissa chicken with dates, orange peel, and dill. — 4 days ago

Excellent Pinot. Well balanced and with the right astringency. Unlike many pinots from the USA, it doesn’t try to impress you with an excessive alcohol content, but seduces like a burgundy would do. Needs to breathe for a couple hours to open up. Black current and leather notes. — 6 years ago

Brunello, 2010, best vintage ever, so so good. In fact this vineyard usually blends its plots into one but the year was so good Mario decided to make single vineyard bottlings from Vigna Fonte Lattaia (this bottle) and another vineyard (still sitting on that one). Complex, great backbone, balanced today and you can tell it is built to age. If you can find it do yourself a favor and clean out the bin — 10 years ago
