Big primitivo from Manduria grown on sandy soil! Smells almost maderized as it goes from jammy plum and raspberry to prickly pear and jalepeño jam with a twisted soy brininess emanating cedar and ripe heat! Full-bodied sasparilla reduction with a blanket of dried blackberry soaked in cola and then reduced. Over-browned coffee cake comes to mind, if the burnt sugars manifested drily with a cinnamon stick and plum reduction indelibility. This wine is medium-dark in the glass, and full-blown dark on the nose. Aromas of black fruit leap out first, but the tar notes follow quickly. It has a peppery smell to it and a healthy amount of chocolate and cigar box. The palate is full and lush. Blackberry notes, anise, mocha and bramble all join together with firm tannins and a lengthy finish. I want a steak with this one, but a sausage and pasta dish would be nice, too. You can also enjoy it by itself as it is quite sip-worthy. — 3 years ago

A great Primitivo from Puglia. Dark ruby colour with brilliant appearance. Nose of young dark fruits and port like aromas, soft tannins. Full body, meaty, balanced and very tasty. — 5 years ago
