Enoteca La Fortezza di Montalcino

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

Beautiful color of ruby with a brick hue.

Elegant nose of red fruits with light wood, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, sweet raspberries, light plums, chocolates, light oak, spices, licorice, herbs, light vegetables and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Brunello di Montalcino. Complex and inviting from the first sip. A good quality wine. Elegant and smooth.

This 5 year old is drinking beautifully now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 7 years.

A lovely wine to drink by itself, as a sipping wine. Easy drinking and well balanced. Drinking it in Montalcino, made it taste even better...

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2017

Recommended by a staffer at Enoteca Di Piazza in Montalcino after I explained my preferences. After 2 hours slow-ox - Bold on the nose with earthy dark fruit. Mouthwatering acidity and nominal oaky tannins making it quite smooth. On the palate a complex melange of dark cherry, licorice, cinnamon, undergrowth, and a touch of leather and sweet balsamic. Finish is moderately long and tobacco-dry. Delightful. — 2 years ago

Pieve Santa Restituta Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2014

I remembered that I drank the year 2009 of this wine about four years ago. I brought a bottle from Greve in Chianti (from my favorite Enoteca Falorni). My rating then was 9 (on Delectable). I didn't write any note so I don't remember what was so special about it.

But this one has a fantastic balance. It makes this wine so powerful and overwhelming. I adore connection between a vanilla, a chocolate and a pepper. I read some opinions below - none mentioned the pepper, so maybe I'm wrong, but I don't care.

Good aroma matured raisin with sourness. Taste is as well. Not so concentrated but tasty. A bit spicy and sourness. Interesting. Good potential for years later. 2013 @500/G(3000), T-Enoteca, 200813 — 4 years ago
