Morey Saint Denis Pinot Noir 2018

Splash decanted directly prior to service, the 2018 Morey Saint Denis pours a deep ruby with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose the wine is youthful with powerful notes of ripe and tart red fruits: red cherries, red brambles, red flowers, some herbs and a healthy dollop of warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and luxurious. A fairly flashy wine and, to my palate, the oak is showing prominently right now. Not out of balance, but close. The alcohol is up there…but it is pretty well disguised. Not wimpy, that’s for sure. While this is certainly full of energy and character right now, I think this wine would enjoy some time in the cellar to show even better. Drink from 2028 through 2043. — 2 days ago

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2022

Outstanding! Dark fruit(s)…Black Tea…Smoked Meats…Charcoal…And?…way too young to really tell. But, one thing is for sure..a definite cellar addition. — 4 days ago

Le Gréal Hermitage Syrah 1989

Wow, nearly one year later another pristine, non-cork-tainted, bottle of this outstanding 35-year-old Hermitage — outstanding fruit which is still surprisingly youthful, complex, long finish, just an amazing wine that seems 10 more years from maturity (good cork dependent), great juice!!! — 17 days ago

Bourgogne Chardonnay 2019

Perfumed, candied citrus essence hooked up to a 9V battery.

This was opened and then left in the fridge and slowly consumed- and fully at its best after 2 weeks.

Really delicious, justifiably pricey Bourgogne Blanc.

Vau de Vey Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2021

Very open and inviting Chablis. Nose jumps out, with scents of crushed sea shell, citrus oil, green apple, wet straw. Round and ripe ( but not too ripe) in the mouth. Nice, gently but mouthwatering acids to buoy up the super-pure fruit. Some nice limestone minerality as well. Drinking beautifully right now. I don’t see this as a Chablis to age. — 24 days ago
