Some more single vineyard Chardonnay, didn’t have high expectations for these wines as the actual winery seems like a photo op destination more than anything. Very pleasantly surprised, minimal to no oak; upwardly linear, medium to full bodied but still bright and vibrant. — 4 years ago

Mid to deep crimson in colour. Aromas of red berries, a little oak, a bunchie stalky note, spices including nutmeg and a dash of chocolate. Medium plus bodied quite northern Rhone in style more than SA. Not dissimilar to another excellent North Island Syrah as in Trinity Hill, Hawkes Bay. Very good, very tasty. From the unlikely destination of Waiheke Island which is in the middle of Auckland Harbour, which is massive in area compared to Sydney Harbour. One would think the rainfall might be a little high for quality viticulture but not so. Also when you think that one of the best new world Chardonnays in Kumeu River is made just to the north of Auckland. — 5 years ago

Purple, smells like a Malbec. Nice finish, easy drinking. :-) — 8 years ago
This mango tropical fruit orange wine that im obsessed with (maybe im basic). Structured fun that I love as an aperitif or as a late night sip.an Italian will probably say this is a food wine but don't listen I wanna pop this every day and feel like I'm on vacation. Destination wedding wine for someone that has never been invited to one and probably never will be — 8 years ago
Is there another gear when you ratchet up your wine experience?
Clos de la Tech Pinot tasting -- outstanding craftsmanship and pursuit of quality. Intro of 2012 vintage features several stars, led by Cote de Sud -- truly a nugget among semi-precious gems. And then...back to the residence for 2012 Mastro Janni Brunello (swell) followed by 2009 Brigaldara Amarone (special). And then...out comes the 2000 Quintarelli Valpolicella -- is there another level, an overdrive gear from here? Arguably NO, this Quintarelli answers every question wine consumers may conjure. Yes, I believe this is the destination! — 9 years ago
This review is not about the wine. This review is solely about tok which is possibly the best restaurant Kris has found independent of Danny. She doesn’t recall the origin; what she searched and when? Unsure. Though as the destination in Hoi An to celebrate 48 with Danny and his parents: exceptional. To be fair, this whole trip has been remarkable in only good ways. The White Lotus arrival at The Nam Hai. The upgrade to the three bedroom villa (compound). Nayuu and the origami welcome back … but we digress. tok and its chicharron and veggie chips. The ceviche and clams and prawns… plus cauliflower, flank steak, and last minute addition of mushroom ravioli. Everything was exceptional. More than 5 stars… 10 stars. All the stars! A requirement each trip back (we will return for 49!). — a year ago
Excellent, would definitely have again. Slightly fruitier than your average dry Sauvignon. Purchased via Naked. — 5 years ago
Today it’s time for "Destí" with Grenache only, by Merum Priorati @merumpriorati. It comes from the vineyards that are halfway up the slopes of this winery. A friendly but powerful Priorat wine with body and very balanced. "Destí" (destination) symbolizes the place where wines of Merum aim for, no more and no less than Heaven. Which one is yours? #dovinsdelaterra #doqpriorat #vinscatalans — 6 years ago
I am going to rank this high for no other reason than its label and taste evoke charming tree-lined streets, fields of sunflowers as far as the eye can see, sailboats bobbing at dead ends of sandy lanes, fresh farm stands piled high with tomatoes and roasted corn, and shaded fields with chickens playing in plastic baby pools. North Fork, my new favorite nearby vacation destination. — 8 years ago

Given by The Kelley’s as great wine from our destination in Tuscany, Italy — 2 years ago
This is a delicious Riesling from the 2022 vintage. The RR destination indicates it’s from three different vineyards, all on red slate soil. At 12.5%abv it is just slightly off-dry - perceptible sweetness but less than most Kabinett wines. The fruit clearly got ripe with luscious apple, ripe pear, yellow plum, lemon, lime and flint along with a hint of petrol. Exceptional balance, good acidity and a very long finish. Very speaking note and will last many more years than I have patience to wait! — 2 years ago
Another one of my bottles opened for a massive Paso theme. After having the 2016 last year during a virtual tasting with Connor of Fulldraw, I think this 2017 has more upfront appeal whereas the 2016 has a touch more longevity.
I double decanted this for an hour, then put it in a decanter at my destination where I followed it for the next 4hrs. The profile didn’t really change all that much after the first 1-2hrs. This is high octane without being overblown and flabby. Half Syrah, with the remaining split between Grenache and Mourvèdre. Gorgeous royal purple in the glass. Aromatically I didn’t pick up a lot of smoked meat/savory Syrah notes, but mostly a lot of dark chocolate dipped black cherries, dark floral potpourri and fleshy fruits...as if it were mostly Grenache. The palate was the same...high toned ripe fruit with nice lift and acidity, and an airy jammy character I find in high quality Paso wines.
I saved the last third of this and opened again the next day and there was zero change. Best over the next 3-5yrs for this type of profile. — 5 years ago
A rich and savory blend of Touriga Nacional and Syrah, it offers a deep and complex nose of currants, plum, black pepper, black tea, dried mushrooms, saddle wood, and dark chocolate. Bright acidity brings energy to a full body.
Could not be more happy to pick out this gem at a great restaurant in Macau, probably one of the most under-the-radar (certainly not underrated as this tiny peninsula boasts 3 Michelin 3-star restaurant) food destination. — 7 years ago

Very promising South African wine. Franschhoek has established itself as a great wine destination for some reason. Round, balanced, warm and elegant. — 9 years ago
By the end of night one the cerebral roller coaster ride left me bewildered. Despite being guilty of infanticide, the wine was not necessarily closed for business. Rather, it was like tasting four or five different wines over a few hours. A darker than usual kirsch provides a canvas for the swirling plethora of flowers, herbs, meat, and earth, with a distinctly saline minerality (which might be the only constant here). By night two it reached its destination of charmingly pleasurable and no longer required as much thought, thankfully. — 9 years ago

What a nice surprise. Cab sav Syrah blend. Smooth black fruit. Cocoa. New leather. Could use a bit more acidity but quite delicious. — a year ago
