Wow, Great Barrel Proof selection with plenty of vanilla, cherry and spice. β 3 years ago
Nose has ripe plum, mashed blackberries, dark chocolate powder, strawberry jam on leather, molasses, molasses cookies, wet soil, nutmeg and vanilla bean.
Palate has blackberry compote, black cherry reduction, partially dried plum, wet baking spice, wet+dry leather, dark chocolate shavings, (light) oak/vanilla influence remains. Extended finish, really starting to pick up incredibly at 3-4H in the decanter.
Paired with Allen Bros. ribcap (USDA Prime version) tonight, unfortunately our grill has a 4ft. snow drift in front presently so the best I can muster was a super hot cast iron pan from the oven, then onto stove with lots of butter and in 7m total we had beef to die for...Which I had some competition for dining this evening.
This bottle was a very generous gift from my West Coast brother @David T from earlier in the year. My work travel schedule was hectic and never found a good time to settle in on a weekend with the wine or pairing, until now. (I've lost track of the amount of COVID tests I've done in the past 5M, but all have been negative π to date.) A fabulous gift to enjoy now that I'm hopefully relaxing for the next 2w...

Wine dinner with the owner and wine maker β 3 years ago
Sparkling red Daniel's birthday. Lightly sparkling at the front of the palate with a finish like a usual red wine. I liked but Daniel preferred the laithwaites one β 4 years ago
This is the drift rows single vineyard cab (oakville 88 vineyard). Virtual tasting with Justin and Andrew. They made this different than the typical hunnicutt big and rich style. They picked a little earlier for a more ageworthy balanced wine. Nice minerality and dark cherry. 93-94+. Would like to see this in 10 years but you can drink it now with a decant. β 5 years ago
Last dinner in France, last wine to taste. This wine was given to me by someone but I don't remember who. It was in my father's cellar with a handwritten note "Daniel's wine".
There is tar, cedar, black currant and blackberry, cocoa and mocha on the nose. The palate is very well made with a great acid drive, some nice width, a beautiful black currant and blackberry fruit shining through and through, a soft mouthfeel giving way to some already nicely integrated tannins in the rear, living a grain and powering up some savory tastes, almost meaty, and a nice finish that goes on for a while. Very nice bordeaux! β a year ago
Pearly spicy pear... so fresh and so clean clean. Dry with just enough sweet bite. Clearly I donβt know how to speak wine notes but you get my drift... πππ β 5 years ago

Nice very nice but is it worth double Bullet or Makers Mark. Every one should try at least once in their lifetime though β 6 months ago
