Birthday celebration for @Cody Uzzel at Lucio’s with a bunch of friends. All wines (except sparklers) tasted blind.

Another one of my contributions. WOTN for sure. When the dinner got planned for Cody I just knew the time had come to kill off this 🦄. During the work week my wife goes home for lunch, so on the day of the dinner I had her open this bad boy and put it in a decanter. Fast forward 8+ hours later and it was still a little tight when first sampling it over dinner. However, the insane part was that it evolved at a mind-blowing rate, dropping its guard and unleashing a payload of fragrance that absolutely shocked people. The whole table was fixated and enamored with this wine and it only got better as the night progressed. Drank beautifully with a heavily perfumed nose of musk, sandalwood, tonka, red fruits, and granite. True craftsmanship, such finesse and power. This was an ethereal experience. — 7 years ago

Picked up this bottle at the winery when we met Cody Wright (Ken Wrights son). Boutique winery. Amazing. Drank well after 8 years. Would not let much longer. I could not wait anyway. — 4 years ago
Tried several bottles, all great! Founded by Cody and Marque Wright, yes that family of the great Ken Wright Pinot’s very nice small production Pinot, 1700 cases, sourced from 8 vineyards. Ruby, purple hues with aromas of blue and red fruits with an array of spices. On the palate youthful flavors of cherry and fresh strawberry, licorice notes with elegant spice. Fine tannins, long ending with fruit and tangy spice and mineral notes. Great now but a few years will bring out more of the wines complexity. — 5 years ago

I really enjoyed this wine: chiseled, muscular, and full of life. Cherries, blackberries, pipe tobacco. A fun pick! — 7 years ago

A Melka beauty that served as a nice follow-up to Bénetière’s gem. This had a green streak piercing the palate that dominated at first and was slightly off-putting, but it balanced itself out as the night wore on and proved to be quite harmonious with the other essences of the wine: exotic spices, mud/clay, plums, and créme de cassis. This was an awesome wine. — 7 years ago
