2020 vintage. Château de Goëlane is the very first estate acquired by the Castel family in 1957. It is located in the Entre Deux Mers region, where only whites can be sold under the appellation. Therefore the reds can only carry the humble "Bordeaux " or " Bordeaux Supérieur" appellation. Mainly Merlot (75%), blended with 24% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged in stainless steel for 18 months, with 40% oak staves. A smooth, easy-drinking, well-balanced Bordeaux, that is hard to beat for value for money. Abv. 14%. — 3 months ago
2019 vintage. 100% Merlot. One of the Castel family estates. While I have a slight preference for the Château Goëlane 2020 ( Bordeaux Supérieur) from the same owners, this is very good value for money too. A nice every day Bordeaux that doesn't break the bank. Abv. 14%. — 3 months ago

2016 vintage. A testimony to how even humble Bordeaux wines can show serious ageing potential. Still fresh and alive, just lacks a bit of length, but no complaints at 6,90 euro! Abv. 14%. — a month ago
