Fantastically Smooth! — a month ago
2021 vintage.
Sangiovese 60 % and Cabernet Sauvignon 40 % from Pitigliano estate in Maremma, Tuscany with a southwest exposure.
Owned by Tommasi family since 1997.
Rompicolla is ‘breakneck’ but means tremendously steep and slippery slope…a risky adventure.
Soils are deep in volcanic tuff.
Stainless steel ferment and matured 1 year in 65 HL Slavonian oak casks.
Red cherries, raspberries, savoury spice, and floral.
Medium bodied but fresh and clean on the finish.
This wine loves food ….and I appreciate that. — a month ago
Simple and classic chianti but that’s about it. Cherry red fruit and light oakiness. — 6 days ago
Medium-deep ruby color
Aromas of cherry,
Dry. Flavors of cherry, licorice, herbal, floral. Rich, chewy tannins!
Needs age to soften tannins, but may not be enough fruit for aromatic development.
Intensity: 4/5
Complexity: 4/5
Balance: 4/5

Luscious red fruit and structured tannins. A fantastic food wine. — 4 days ago
The nose is layered and expressive, opening with black cherry, plum, and cassis, followed by notes of , tobacco leaf, leather. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with softened but still present tannins providing structure. Dark fruit flavors are complemented by earth, licorice, espresso, and a touch of mineral. The acidity remains well-integrated, lending lift and balance despite the wine’s concentration.
At age 19 this is drinking beautifully now, offering both power and nuance, while still capable of holding for several more years — a month ago
