Rocche dell'Annunziata Barolo Nebbiolo 2005

It’s not all about the big names or so called high end wines. It’s about how a wine tast in the glass, this wine does taste very well after 19 years in the bottle. It’s nice and soft with some ripe red fruits. Just a lovely bottle of Barolo 😋 — 3 months ago

Very nice, more Amarone like than Nebbiolo in my mind. Nice balance of sweetness and tartness. Grippy tannins. — 3 years ago

Vigneto Arborina Barolo Nebbiolo 2018

Fruit sourced from three young, cool vineyards, Arborina and Gattera in La Morra and Castelletto in Monforte d'Alba, Ruby red with a bouquet of dark fruit, spices, leather and licorice. On the palate flavors of sour black cherry and plum with notes of pepper, smoky tobacco, vanilla and oak. Long finish, nice balance with fine drying tannins, savory edges, ending with earthy mineral notes. Good now! — a month ago

Cascina Gancia Barolo Nebbiolo 1985

Used half a bottle for cooking.
Although the finish is slightly drying, this wine is still surprisingly fresh and enjoyable, showing pretty notes of morellocherry, roses, tar and beefstock.
Nice..!

Sot - Monopole Serralunga d'Alba 2016

The 2016 Sot-Monopole is utterly fascinating. This is the first vintage which famed Bordeaux consultant Eric Boissenot has worked along side Cristiano Veglio, and the result is simply magnificent. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from the Sot-Monopole Grand Cru which is situated on the Carpegna hillside in Serralunga. This was vinified in French oak barrels for over 40-days prior to spending 18-months in new French oak barriques and an additional year in bottle prior to release. The wine itself instantly impresses as it opens to seductive aromas of ripe blackberries, black cherries, violets, tobacco, graphite and spices all come together beautifully and burst from the glass. On the palate this possesses a gorgeous full body with outstanding overall structure and balance. It goes on to impress as it displays a remarkable combination of both power and finesse, as layers of wonderful ripe dark fruits gracefully build and expand on to the long polished finish. It is certinaly special to taste such a fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon, but the fact that this comes from within the commune of Barolo makes it even more interesting. There were only 75 cases of this exceptional wine produced in 2016. — 5 years ago

Paiagallo Barolo Nebbiolo 2016

Splash decant... Still pretty tight. Dried cherry, tar, violets. Pretty florals speak to la Morra. Nutmeg spices. Dried but luscious fruit. Relatively approachable tannins, but still just a baby. Finishes with cherry fruit and white pepper. Enjoyable length. Don’t even think about this for 10 years. — 4 years ago
