This is a really good wine but definitely not a crowd pleaser. It starts off with melon and then turns to something like a dry, not-sweet mead. Cool and interesting. — 6 years ago

Very nice full body dry — 10 years ago
Concentrated dark fig, black berries with hint of fresh basil aromas. Smells like pretty high alcohol. Med body med p acid. Very soft tannin(moderate)Med p intensity. Fresh acidity that makes mouth watery. Soft texture, med plus finish of hint of black pepper and tabacco with hint of black currant. Drunk with salumi plate of friuli-prosciutto san daniele, pancetta...complex wine that haas lot of spectrum of food pairing. — 10 years ago

Very good white from Friuli. Great balance between acidity and fruit. Stone fruit (peach) and ripe grape. Pairs very well with prosciutto San Daniele (regional pairing) . Recommended — 8 years ago

2022/7/1 with the last of the prosciutto San Daniele for a while, pan-roasted kuro-shitabirame, turnip salad, etc. This was such a grand, typical Meursault - loads of nuts, butter, stone and lemon, just approaching its peak. Then you add the Genevrières spice - nutmeg, clove and yes, juniper - and it’s really wonderful. It disappeared rather quickly. Sadly Fichet last produced this in 2010, and this bottle (with 14 years of age) didn’t cost much more than a current-release villages lieu-dit goes for... — 4 years ago

This is amazing! Similar to Santa margarita but fuller and with more depth. — 9 years ago
What a treat from mildly floral nose to ever so subtle white pepper on mid-palate to faintly sweet finish. Proprietor, Franco, of Borgovino is a wealth of Italian wine knowledge. ($36 in his shop on Via Borgo San Lorenzo) — 10 years ago

Monviert Pinot Grigio
Friuli Colli Orientali, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
A Friulian Pinot Grigio that leans into texture and structure rather than the typical light-and-simple style. 100% Pinot Grigio grown in Colli Orientali, showing depth, precision, and mineral backbone. This is not a poolside Pinot, it carries seriousness and regional identity.
Aromas & Flavors
Ripe pear, white peach, citrus zest, and subtle almond skin with delicate floral undertones. A mineral thread runs through the core, adding tension and lift.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with a gentle roundness balanced by crisp acidity. Structured, dry, and layered, finishing clean with a slightly savory edge.
Food Pairings
Prosciutto di San Daniele, grilled sea bass, risotto with herbs, roasted chicken with lemon, aged Montasio cheese.
Verdict
A character-driven Pinot Grigio that breaks stereotypes. Textural, focused, and distinctly Friulian, proof that this grape can deliver far more than expected.
Did You Know?
Friuli Colli Orientali is known for producing some of Italy’s most structured and age-worthy white wines due to its marl-rich “ponca” soils.
🍷 Personal Pick
A thoughtful and elevated expression that redefines Pinot Grigio beyond its commercial reputation. — 4 months ago
