Strong whiff of bourbon barrel, mixed with chocolate syrup, coffee and sweet cream. Rich full bodied palate, sweet upfront with some bitter esspresso on the finish. Slightly reminiscent of a black and white milkshake with a high octane punch. Fantastic, i'd like to see how it ages. Ps- how cool that you can do beer and liquor on this app! I was unaware. Cheers to the folks at delectable :) — 9 years ago
Evil Twin Brewing Double Barrel Jesus. Yet another masterpiece from my friend, brewmaster Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø. Inky, coal black, ebony color. Aromas of espresso, mocha fudge brownies and the darkest of dark fruits. The absolute creamiest of textures. Gives a whole new meaning to “Mocha Cappuccino.” Positively chewy. Those oak barrels are magic. I’ve never really been a “beer guy.” I could appreciate a good stout, but Jeppe just knocks the cover off the ball. I find his work as contemplative as a fine wine. I’m serious when I say that I’d like to bottle some wine with this guy. Start thinking of a good label name Jeppe! — 7 years ago
Just about as Texas as any beer could be. Imperial stout from Martin House Brewing Company, aged 6 months in Witherspoon Distillery Bourbon Barrels from Lewisville, TX, and brewed from a variety of 8 specialty hops and Columbus hops. Pours like the blood coursing through the veins of Acheron - dark black, and with the consistency of tar. This is some tasty stuff! Sadly, last of the two cans in my allocation! — 8 years ago
"Odedi"
Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet cherries, black plums, raisins, dried figs, tobacco, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, smoke, root beer and black pepper.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, cooked plums, sweet cherries, raisins, vanilla, cedar, leather, chocolates, tobacco, coffee, peppercorn, mocha, spices, earth, light vegetables and pencil lead.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a great Syrah from California. Very fruity with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Nice and balanced, but might be too fruity for some.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (30 minutes).
