Banjo Jozo

Miyoshino Jozo

Hanatomoe Natural Selection Nara Sake

Intriguing sake. Never had anything like this before. Traditional Mizumoto method, fermented with no temperature control and little intervention. Savory and quite acidic, notes of tamari. Serve very chilled. 18% abv. — 6 months ago

Very nice, one of the better ones I've tasted. Complex, not too sweet, but still clean tasting. — 4 years ago

Sex-Ed stock footage: trains rushing into tunnels; flowers opening; Saturn V rocket launch; snake-charmed cobra from a wicker-basket; jack-in-the-box; General Lee jumping across a wet, wet river; banjo-solo; slow-motion luge; mosh-pits. — 10 years ago

Kamoshibito Kuheiji Human Junmai Daiginjo Sake 2021

A case for decanting saké? Too rich for my blood when first opened, but it became far more elegant after a week opened in the fridge. Very fruity and sweet at the start, but it became more nuanced with air. By the last few pours it reminded me a little of a savoury Sauv Blanc almost, though with far less acidity. Not bad. — 2 years ago

Vitae Springs Vineyard Pinot Gris 2012

Could be mistaken for Alsatian Pinot Gris in a balmy vintage for all its ripe orchard fruit and white smoke -with a taut twang of a banjo string in terms of structure. Some good flesh and body to this. — 11 years ago
