vintage 2013 | Trouvaille from Salento. My Sunday bubble. Made with the classic methode from Bianco d’Alessano and Fiano. Ten years sur lie (!). It is friendly and exciting. I figured out what do I smell? Roses with hints of caramel. In the taste hints of peach, easy drinking. Paired with French bread with nut salami and tunafish salad for breakfast. Some nice chewy tannins in this Montepulciano, making it perfect for drinking with pizza. Peppery, savory, and briny like olives, it's a wine suited for drinking amongst the faded, yellow walls of Lucali. — 9 years ago

This dark wine has a fruity nose of blackberry and plum, but there are some more savory notes as well. Black pepper, cigar box and black olive also come through. On the palate, licorice and plums are in the forefront of one of the fruitier flavor profiles I have tasted in Apulian Primitivos. The 16% alcohol is not as overpowering as I imagined it would be. The tannins are fairly forceful and the acidity is refreshing. This wine drinks really well and will pair nicely with a marbled rib eye steak. — 5 years ago
