Last bottle of vintage. 48/29/23 blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane. Inky dense purple, highly extracted. Whiff of rotten egg initially, dark cherry notes emerges later. Cola flavor with mint with length, chewy tannins in finish, light skin astringency. Needs time to open. Later black plum flavor emerges. This merlot is amazing, does kinda drink like a Cab...but holy smokes is it smooth! Could also be the time laid down on this one. Beautiful big red fruit on the nose, even nice earthy notes on the nose. That pucker on the finish to remind you it's a merlot, but dang its delicious! — 6 years ago

For my 1500th review here on delectable, here is a great red from Sonoma County.

Deep purple in color with a short purplish rim.

Strong fruity nose of black currants, blackberries, cherries, figs, licorice, cloves, spices, oak, vanilla, cinnamon, coffee, mocha, tobacco, light earth and black pepper.

Full bodied and bold with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with sweet plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, blackberries, blueberries, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices and peppercorn.

Long finish with medium tannins and tart cherries.

This is a very nice Petite Sirah from Alexander Valley. Nicely balanced with nice complexity. Rich and extracted with a great mouth feel.

Could use a couple of years to mature, but I really enjoyed it as is. This is a big boy, with a teeth staining color.

Good by itself or with food like a fatty piece of steak on the grill. Needed 90 minutes to open up properly.

A blend of Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Carignane and Syrah.
