9.4

Rich, buttery nose. minerals, high end peanut butter and deep sea air. Wood shavings. Palate is rich and velvety with top top texture. Such great acidity and cut and a wonderful, very integrated finish. Amazing sap and purity. As this airs it gets so elegant and even more integrated. — 3 months ago

La Tour Saint-Martin Morogues Menetou-Salon Sauvignon Blanc 2020

More minerally, and a bit sweet, than is typical for a Sauvignon Blanc, this paired well with fish and with pasta and cream sauce. — 9 months ago

Old Vines Saint Georges Zinfandel 2019

Such a unique take on Zinfandel. Lower alcohol and much more red-fruited than is typical, the nose has great purity of cherry and raspberry compote, crushed rock, and a dusting of baking spice. In the mouth it’s got great flavor concentration in an aerodynamically lean package. Intense red fruit and lots of crushed rock. Great acids. A perfect summer Zin. This winery never disappoints, in my experience. — 8 months ago

9.5

One cannot ever drink enough elite St. Pourcain. A dream of a nose with gorgeous aromas of butter, minerals. baked apple, iodine and wet earth. Just stunning and evocative. Layered and so complex. Wow. What a palate. Salty, rich, but fresh and textured. Long and rich but so much energy. Coats the backend so nicely and such pure sappiness. Just a stunner. Sadly no made in 2021. Amazing length and purity. Masterful balance. A genius wine. Is this a 9.6? Maybe. Let’s see how it develops. — a year ago
