Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

Pure old country style. No fruit other than perhaps dark, tart cherry and tomato. Mostly a juice with notes of cigarette box, dark unsweetened chocolate, black tea and hints of granite. Medium but very dry tannins. Balanced, pleasant finish. — 2 months ago

Pietranera Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2007

2007 is impressive, mostly sangiovese. Wine expert Eric Lenard says, "Little old man in Pienza shared a bottle of his secret stash." — 5 years ago

Pietranera Piaggia SuperTuscan Blend 2018

Intense, smoky aroma. Tastes of plum, black cherry, leather. Long lingering finish of graphite and mild tannins. I wanted to learn about Italian wines and ended up buying one that is essentially a Bordeaux blend! I mean it’s really good but I just wanted a lesson in some thing else. I foolishly opened it to drink with pizza. 😩 — 4 months ago
