Smooth in the mouth, but spice and herbs and gamey-ness add complexity. Minerals and soil join the plums on a ride! — 25 days ago
I LOVE Alban wines. This is my first experience with their single vine Grenache. Wow was i impressed. Deep purple hew. Rich and luscious. Popping red fruit with a massive nose. I did open this earlier than i would normally, so the acidity level was high. Mouthfeel was full and left a 40 second finish. A few years in bottle this could easily get to 98-99 pts. — 6 days ago
This was a big wine. Deep, dark, cooked black and blue fruit, smoke, ash, very subtle meatiness, and no shortage of oak. Long, spicy, explosive finish. Substantial, chewy tannins that would benefit from more time in the bottle... would have been a bit much without the steaks. Nice bottle though. — 16 days ago
Here's a pretty Loire SB, very mineral driven, chalky, PF / Sancerre like, with a smoky edge and nice verve on the finish. Nice fruit / acid balance here, with just enough ripeness in the latter, with a lime / passionfruit / tart green apple character. Just excellent and another ringer from the great value regions of the upper Loire - though not for long. — 22 days ago
I really liked this. And I am a fan of the obscure charbono grape. Starts out tough and rough but interesting. With a lot of air (I tasted over a few days)... the tough dissipates but all the interesting bits linger. If you imagine what that label taste like... you got it. — 10 days ago
The wine of choice tonight I have opened is the 2019 Jean-Max Roger Cuvée Marnes et Caillottes Sancerre. From the Loire Valley Bué, France.
On the nose there is lime, grapefruit, melon, hawthorn, flint and minerality.
On the palate is lime, gooseberry, grapefruit, lemon, smokey flint and minerality.
This wine is light to medium bodied with a fresh clean mouthfeel, medium + to high acidity with a long citrus mineral finish. I hooe everyone has had a wonderful weekend? With the week ahead lets all stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 7 days ago
On a hot almost-summer night this wine hits the spot! ☀️
It’s a Sauvignon Blanc from the Valle de Casablanca D.O. in Chile 🇨🇱 where the vines from which it hails receive cooling influences from the Pacific Ocean breezes, lending balance and preserving acidity. 🌊
It’s no wonder this wine is labeled EQ as in Equilibrio (the Spanish word for balance), because it offers a wonderful balance of ripe tropical fruit aromas and flavors with vibrant acidity and notable minerality. 🍍 🥭
The aromas and flavors are fresh, albeit ripe, generally tropical with passion fruit, guava, mango, underripe pineapple, also green apple, gooseberry, freshly cut grass, and wet slate.
It’s a perfect patio pairing and fun to explore the beauty of new world Sauvignon Blanc from this region.
It’s also a great value at $12.99. 👏👏👏👏👏
Matetic Vineyards, E.Q., Coastal Sauvignon Blanc, D.O. Valle de Casablanca, Viñedo Valle Hermoso, Chile. Vintage 2019. ABV 13.5%.
