A blend of 90% Malbec 10% Cab Sauv, oak aged, Ruby with aromas of pronounced berry fruits and floral spice nose. On the palate flavors of black cherry, currants and blackberry fruit with herb, cacao, cedar and pepper spice. Firm soft tannins, well balanced, good acidity, long finish ending with fruit, oak & spice. Nice! — 3 days ago
Surprised at some of the lower ratings here. Clean, crisp, and well rounded. Plums and raisins on the nose. Wonderful balance of medium berry fruit with earthiness and hints of oak. Not a ton of depth, but a very enjoyable wine. Would be even better with food. 75 tempranillo/20 grenache/5 merlot — 5 days ago
Served double blind, the color was a brilliant, deep gold color and the bouquet was a touch wild with dried stone fruits and toasted almonds. On the palate, this came across quite fresh…and tropical! The predominate fruit character reminded me of dragon fruit a touch of lemon and an undeniable maritime influence in the form of ocean spray. The finish is bone dry and there is generous acidity. I actually found this to be even somewhat tannic? I figured there was a non-interventionalist approach to the winemaking. Regardless, I loved whatever this was despite really struggling to place it. Clearly, this was made in a more oxidative style but it didn’t really strike me as a Rioja. When this was revealed, I got really excited. I had never tried one of Luis Seabra’s wines before and now everything made sense. What a treat. Need more of this in my life! 100% Listán Blanco from vines over a century old. — 16 days ago
We recently pulled some cases out of storage, which haven't seen the light of day for nearly 15 years, so I'll have some fun posts in the next several months.
Nose has vintage Port at ~20Y, blackberry, blackcurrant, ripe blueberry, rehydrated raisin, coffee grounds and soil from a forest fire
Palate has orange zest in blackberry jam, dried cherry compote, wet baking spice, molasses cookie, medium tannins with intense finish, can hold easily another +10Y in proper storage. Amazing bottle. — 7 days ago
Amazing wine and a unique blend. Medium body sweet masterfully balanced mix of ripe sweet fruits and raisins with a long herbal, bitter almond, mineral finish that will set the bar soooo high that you’ll need more that luck to top this experience. On the nose it is a full rave... Decadent and tropical with the right amount of funk ! Canary Islands man !! Canary Islands ... Write it down ! — 8 days ago
