Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Medium straw in color; passionfruit, jasmine, and white peaches on the nose; high acidity; tastes like guava, lemon, pear, and kiwi with a long fruity finish. Nellie likes it and I love it! — 18 days ago

New Zealand Rosé Blend

Pretty rose gold color. Smells faintly of strawberries. Mineral on the tongue, like sea foam. Barely off-dry. Clean tanginess and an aftertaste of cherries. At first underwhelming but quite pleasant in the end. — 2 months ago

New Zealand Chardonnay 2017

Citrus upfront and then citrus and lemons after a few seconds of quick finish but a lingering lemon taste OK very little oak — 4 years ago

Loveblock

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018

The 2018 Loveblock Sauvignon Blanc comes from the hilltops above Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. It shows 12.5% abv and sells for $22. Erica Crawford says, “New Zealand’s signature varietal tends to be bold and big,” thanks in no small part to her husband. This wine, she says, “focuses on texture rather than enhanced aromatics.” It went through 25% malolactic fermentation in order to soften the wine. Sure enough, it’s tamer and fruitier on the nose than their previous efforts. The minerals are still there, but the sometimes overwhelming greenness is replaced by a great fruit flavor. The 2017 vintage is a little grassier on the nose and palate, but still mild in comparison to the earlier profile. — 5 years ago

Young Vines Riesling 2016

Quite restrained on nose and palate. A slight touch of TDN amongst the white and yellow florals. The “young vines” were planted in 2000 and are no longer young as such. The Estate Riesling from this producer is one of the better Rieslings in Australia - from Henty on the Victorian south coast. A touch of sweetness with the mineral acidity. — 9 months ago
