Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port 1995

Taylor Fladgate Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Porto 1995, Portugal

#AgedWineTuesday

Ruby in color and cloudy, with a wide reddish/ brick rim.

Sweet nose with cedar, vanilla, honey and chocolates.

Sweet on the palate with black fruits, tobacco, cereal, vanilla, licorice, light wood, chocolates, coffee, light cola and peppercorn.

Long finish with soft tannins and tangy cherries.

This 29 year old is still drinking beautifully. Nicely balanced and elegant. Rich and fruit forward.

I don't see it getting any better from this point on. Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

Delicious right out of the bottle, and a gorgeous dessert wine.

93 points.

Pouilly-Loché Chardonnay 2020

Compared to the Chassagne, this was less dressed up but just as intense; and was a little more compelling, but neither moved me. Fruit-forward on the nose, with ripe lemons and stone fruits taking center stage. Some beeswax and autolytic notes add complexity. The palate was very textural and stony, especially with air. All in all a delicious Chard, but it just didn’t stand out during the night. — 2 months ago

Anjou Rouge Cabernet Franc Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Nice Cab Franc offering, I think it might have a little Cab Sauvignon in there as well, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and herb notes. On the palate plum and blackberry flavors, dried herbs and tobacco leaf notes. Fine tannins, medium finish ending with fruit and sweet herbs. Drink now! Good value! — 2 months ago

Ruby in color with a wide brick rim.

Sweet nose and medium in body with high acidity.

Sweet on the palate with a nice mouth feel.

Showing red and black fruits, tobacco leaf, light earth, brown sugar, Indian spices, peppercorn, herbs and alcohol.

Short finish with Tangy cranberries and honey.

This is not my It is never my favorite port style, but it's very drinkable as a dessert wine.

I enjoyed the nose more than the palate.
