Napa Valley Red Blend

From the #favia brand. Very interesting nose of plum, sage, coffee beans and dirt, but no funk earthiness can sometimes bring. Savory mid with graphite, dark chocolate and a bit of blackberry and spice. Pretty firm tannins in the mostly cab franc/sauv blend. 2015 vintage that will be even better with some time. — 5 years ago

State Lane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

Agreed with previous CT reviewers, this wine has lost most of its tannin. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. This allows a lot of notes to show on the finish. This wine had a nose of black cherry cordial and tart. The note was more of a black cherry and oatmeal tart on the front. Delicate, yet hedonistic at rhe same time. Herbal finish. Still with a delicate fruit structure. Neat wine. The finish really did beg you to take another sip, which IMO is mission accomplished. Compared to a Favia and a 1999 Heitz Martha's, this red had stiff competition but fared well. Probably was better 1 or 2 hours after I left, so @Shay Aldriedge 's note is probably going to be a truer representation of how it showed when it was fully open. — 5 years ago

Wish I could drink more of these wines! 💸 Though on the backside of its drinking window, this is still silky smooth. Tannins are basically non-existent but the wine hasn't gone to secondary notes yet. Still a mix of blackberry cherry, rhubarb tart and birchwood. Finish was fairly quick, but it still has some nice weight. Drink it up if you've got any!

Wow. This wine is amazing. I love Viognier and drink a fair amount of domestic Viognier from solid producers like Alban, Roar, Reynvaan, Jeff Cohn, Favia and Herman Story. I love those wines but this is a different animal. This wine redefines the category. Impeccable balance, unbelievable minerality and a finish that lasts 45 seconds. This is a white wine that evolves in the glass in front of you and it is a 2014. I had this alone and then with food, Nicoise salad and it was great with ample acidity. This is a Viognier that is made like a Grand Cru white burgundy. My eyes have been opened to what is possible with this grape. BRAVO

10' Bevan Cellars EE Red Cuvée. I personally enjoy a well-made Cabernet with a "chunk" of Cabernet Franc in it. The older I'm getting the more I'm enjoying CF profile/flavors.

Give this at a minimum an hour decanting.

Color- Purple with dark ruby red edges.

Full bodied. Blue & black fruits pop out, cider, espresso, pipe smoke also. This is why I purchase wine. Nothing truly stands out on this blend. Drink/Hold.

Very well balanced, that’s what stands out here. Nice ripe red fruit and very good minerality, long finesse finish. It kept getting better as it opened up. This one will age wonderfully. JD rated 99. — 3 years ago

Better with a bit more time in the bottle

Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 1999

One of these bottles came out to play tonight, and I dare say it gave a Kapcsandy 2003 and a Favia 2009 Cerro Sur a run for its money. Between this wine and the Favia, I'm not sure which one I really liked more. I think they were both WOTN for different reasons. This wine started out with a funk that was a little bit strange right out of the bottle. A little hay and mushroom that had to die off. For the first 30 minutes, the wine was a little muted with regard to fruit. Lots of glycerine on the palate, but increased as it sat in the decanter. The wine eventually had a nice aged and completely ripe blackberry note that was ever present from front to finish. An herbaceous quality crept in and out throughout the entire experience, and finished rather bold for its age. Very impressed with this bottle. I have quite a bit more of the 2001 that I think I'm MORE impressed with, but this one certainly showed well. — 5 years ago

I am not sure who the Heitz haters are but this is an excellent wine. Plus...#RESPECT for still not charging for a 4 or 5 wine tasting at their tasting room in Napa on HWY 29; which often includes their Martha.

@David T lots of hate for calling their wine "bretty", used saddle leather, dirty feet, etc etc. I, like most, love their wines and you are spot on with the respect they should get for not charging for a tasting!
