From magnum. The Flagship Red from Donnafugata. 90% Nero d’Avola; 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Syrah. Lovely wine but very New World and modern with loads of quality French new oak. Blackberry fruit. Could have been s high quality Barossa Shiraz except the Nero d’Avola turns it into s medium bodied not full bodied wine. Would like to see it in 5+ years when the oak may have settled down. — 6 years ago
amazing chardonnay from sicily. the wine is dense, bold, intense. nose is mostly floral with tropical and citrus notes. in mouth very complex: melon, grapefruit, lemon, lime, apple, mango… interesting finish with very nice acidity making the whole very refreshing. — 7 months ago
From one of the smallest appellations in Sicily and Italy too: Contessa Entellina DOC. Cabernet Sauv. 100% from low yields. Red fruit at nose, with light balsamic hints. Dry taste, typical "green" notes of this variety (not perfectly mature at the harvest?), nice and balanced finish. Very good. — 10 years ago
A blend of mostly Nero d'Avola adding some Petit Verdot, Syrah and a few other grapes. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits, sweet notes and spicy scents. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry, currant like, with notes of cacao, licorice and sweet spice, well balanced with acidity. Fine tannins, long finish, ending with fruit, tobacco and sweet earthy character. Very nice! — 2 years ago
