Tenuta Nuova Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2011

Opened this last night, poured into decanter To around midnight, fell asleep, woke up a 4 am and said "shit, my Tenuta!" Covered decanter with plastic wrap. And now, 20 hours later, it's smooth...

It's shy of the Ciacci Piccolomini Pianrosso, and I actually give a nod to the non-reserva version (see prior rating).

Pianrosso Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2006

Dark and intense with a nose of dried cherries and sour blue fruit. Still densely- packed on the palate with fine tannins. A bit hard to ascertain right now. Quality stuff... but young — 5 years ago

Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

Delectable Wine

A cooling whiff of minty herbs gives way to dusty cherry and sweet rosy florals as the 2019 Rosso di Montalcino unfolds in the glass. It’s pure and vibrant on the palate, with a cascade of bright wild berry fruits, herbs and minerals. There’s admirable length and a subtle tug of tannin that frames the experience nicely, as this tapers off with a lasting note of hard red candies. (Eric Guido, Vinous, January 2022)

Renieri Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

So this really never mellowed. Stayed pretty hot.. I think this could sit a while longer. Hopeful but when I drink a 2012 Ciacci Piccolomini, it's ready. So I don't know.

I believe I’ve had this once...if it’s the one I’m thinking of, I really enjoyed it.

Rossofonte Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2014

Declassified Brunello grapes from a difficult vintage. Dusty red fruits, barnyard scents, clay, cloves. Juicy, creamy fruits, wrapped in subtle oak, hints on black pepper. Good length. Solid QPR for the '14. — 6 years ago
