Lush and vibrant, the latest red blend from Checkerboard’s Aurora Vineyard has the vanilla and clove of new oak but these are balanced by ripe, mellow fruit- black cherry, blackberry, cassis, grilled meat, plum and blueberry. Great tension and balance with ripe tannins and excellent acidity. Very fine — 3 months ago

This wine is super refined and elegant. The amount of acid was noticeable at this point - and the tannins are strong even after a four plus hour decant. This is one for the long haul. It was cool to taste this side by side with the ‘12 vintage as well as next to the ‘12 regular Estate. All so different yet all so good. Such wonderful wines it’s sad they’re no longer making them. — 5 years ago
Deep garnet. Oak and dark fruit on the nose. Hour decant and still a bit tight but yet still very smooth and well structured. Red and black fruit. Tannins silky smooth with nice long finish. Beautiful wine! After another hour this wine was hitting its stride! So good!! — 5 months ago

#AgedWineTuesday
Another delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from a Single Vineyard in Napa Valley.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity.
Showing black fruits with tobacco, chocolates, coffee, vanilla, cedar, licorice, spices and peppercorn.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with a long finish and round tannins.
Showing great complexity and mouthfeel. Rich, yet elegant and fruit forward.
Good right out of the bottle and probably better with airtime, but I didn't have that luxury, as the bottle finished right away.
Thank you Barry for sharing this with me.
I had this vintage 5 years ago (from a 750ml), and loved it too. This Magnum will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Good by itself, and does not need any food, but will pair very nicely with a big piece of steak.
A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1%Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. Grapes are grown at 1,200 feet of elevation, and were aged in oak barrels for 26 months. A small production of only 250 cases.
14.7% alcohol by volume.
95 points.
