This is the best Syrah I have had in a long time. Surprisingly, the color is on the lighter side like a northern Rhône and has a subtle nose. Cherries, blackberries, leather, charcoal, earth, and smoke combine into an incredible taste profile with no tannins whatsoever. Only needed about 15 minutes of air to reach this level of flavor. Wish I had more than one bottle remaining. — 6 days ago

We now resume our regular programming. Maybe the 2016 needed a little more time but it just had too much pepper to it. 2017 is your classic Charles smith Rhone style. Bold fruit, long spicy finish. This is the only wine I buy by the case besides last year... time to place an order — 3 days ago
Nose has chalkboard dust, mashed cherries, raspberry, ripe currant, oak bark, (minor) moist garden soil, milk chocolate bar and moist pipe tobacco.
Palate has crushed cherries, orange peel, ripe black currant, blackberry, graphite and medium tannins. Long finish, amazing bottle this evening.
About two years since our last bottle, doing very, very well this evening, can hold another 6-12Y (2026-32) in proper storage. — 23 days ago
