Early development. Still too youthful and somewhat closed after three hours of decanting. Bold black currant, wild red cherry, cassis, and hints of black berry liquor. Decaying red roses and violets. A monstrous dried crushed rock, lead, minerality and wet chestnut/cigar box tannic finish. Sweet/salty soy throughout. Will hit its peak after 30+ more years. — 11 years ago

Drinking perfect. Fully developed cherry and currant fruit is intermixed in harmony with the bombardment of secondary and tertiary notes. Damp woody forest notes, balsamic, graphite and bruised pepper skins flood the palate. Consume now. — 11 years ago

2002. Peaking, drink now or over at least 6 more years. Powerfully nuanced with a touch of youthful vibrancy throughout. Developed lemon fruit notes but that mouth consuming chalky crunch sticks on the palate for 2 minute+ finish. Reaffirms why Chablis is one of my favorite things to drink. — 11 years ago

Quite superb retro-nasal. Finish rolls on with a gargantuan mouth aroma. Heavy lees character shows its best wrapped in rich lemon curd tartlets. Magnificent and not shy, 45+ second finish. — 10 years ago

Still some youthful signs in structure but overall mostly developed.slightly dried red cherries only show at entry and quickly give way to decomposed waterlogged forest tree trunk. Not as much truffle as one would hope, the touch of dried porcini on the nose and attack takes backseat to hoisin/wet fern notes from the mid palate and on. — 11 years ago

Beginning to peak. Fruit is giving a bit for immense layers of nuance upon a beautifully persistent high toned finish! — 11 years ago

Past prime. Loaded with soy notes, hoisin sauce, balsamic vinegar reduction, sweet & sour, Chinese 5 spice, faint yet bright mashed/oxidized red Chinese sour cherry skins, potpourri, decomposed red rose bed, cola, turned dry alluvial earth, porcini mushrooms, dried clove, old cinnamon stick, burnt dark chocolate, burnt espresso. — 11 years ago

Developed. Weighted without seeming clumsy at all. Amazing but delicate notes throughout. Green herbaceous notes of celery seed, morning dew grass, fresh uncut chervil, tarragon, thyme, white pepper, whole white mushrooms, faint yellow florals, wet river stones, touch of vanilla and damp cedar. Could go another 20-30 easy. — 11 years ago

Youthful. Powerful entry with tongue gripping structure gives way to suave ripe fruits and earth. A bridge between lovers of old and new world wines. At the moment, do not consume above suggested serving temps, if anything, serve a few degrees under. — 11 years ago
