Outstanding. Delicate but bold and beautiful red color. Impressive complexity with red fruit and blue fruits expressed at different times and levels as it opened up. Plums. Dark ripe cherries. Great med+ to full body. Velvety wonderfulness. Great integration between fruits and earthy smokey goodness. Nice short bite of pepper at times too. Slightly tart at open but just a thoroughbred after a few minutes. Lovely acidity and pleasant grippiness. This was outstanding and I hope to be back for more. Had in memory of my brother in law MJN. — 5 years ago
Black fruit nose. Translucent purple with a wide redish rim. Earthy, mushroom, and licorice at open with a flash of dark stewy cranberry sauce. Nice long finish after 2 hour decant with wood/cedar and a smooth smoke. Med plus acidity and faint tannin which tbh there could’ve had more of a punch. That and a thinner/lighter body for a CDR also knocks it down just slightly for me. Nice little surprise at my in-laws. — 5 years ago
Loved this experience. A delicate and even more fruit forward expression of the grape. Definitely young but very good plus. Great mix of bright dark red cherries and the chewy tannic finish that goes on forever. Really needs 60 min decant minimum. When I tasted upon open I was not optimistic. But this grew into an elegant mix of violet flowery goodness, cherry, firm and tasty tannin and med plus acidity. Add a signature red brick color and fragrant nose and you have a winner. A bit light on body or it’d be even higher. — 5 years ago
Not as brilliant for me as the JMB 2015 or 2016 cote du py but lovely wine still. Bright but stewy cranberry sauce and cherries dominate when opened. Same/similar lush purple color as more recent years. Med body. Med+ acidity. Lacked a nice tannic bit until 30-45 mins in decanter. Then it became more complex and showed a mild but enjoyable and long lasting dry effect. Recommended experience for cru Beaujolais fans but noticeably lagged the ‘15 and ‘16 for me. — 5 years ago
Nose on open was alcohol. Got me worried. But for no need! Wow this was great. Nose eventually morphed into stone and gravel with a touch of raspberry. Elegant flavor throughout. Dark rich fruit and ripe tannins. Figs. Great tension with the acidity I expect from a Barbera. Black tea grippiness. What a blend. Highly recommend despite present alcohol that could have been integrated a touch better or benefitted from being a touch lower. Nbd though and not a hot burner. — 5 years ago
Fun nose, a forest and fruit mix. Color looks like Syrah blend (which it is!). Interesting and surprisingly complex. Lots of cab franc funkiness and herbal/greens. Red fruit but not super sweet. Subtle tannin could’ve been stronger tbh. Still enough structure with med acidity. Highly recommended for an inexpensive change of pace if you’re an old world regular like I tend to be w reds. — 5 years ago
Seems this is a widely consumed red here on delectable. Paso Robles cabs are not usually in my rotation so this was a somewhat different experience for me. It’s a big wine. Loved the bold flavors of tobacco leaf, coffee, licorice, dark cherries and black fruit. I was really impressed by how big the flavors and acidity and alcohol were all at once. And it somehow stayed smooth. Needed an hour in decanter. Good experience if not my style of wine and a bit unbalanced. Still young, maybe/I suppose. — 5 years ago
Infinitely drinkable. Was expecting it to be too sweet or light but not the case. And just to be explicit: this is bkthing like the nouveau crap. This was complex enough. Maybe it’s a bit young still. Primary cherries and a nice high acidity that makes it a crowd pleaser at a good price. But not quite in tier for me as great cru Beaujolais primarily because it lacked a bit of structure and bite. Quite good if you or your company like red fruit forward high acid reds. — 5 years ago

Stubborn at first but opened up nicely. Trace smell of flower and stone for me. Range of red fruits but subtle. Enough complexity. Elegance and structure you’d expect but doesn’t take itself too too too seriously. Bit of a gap mid palate but grippy med tannin and a higher than expected acidity. A+ value for Langhe. — 5 years ago
