Zolo
Reserve Mendoza Cabernet Sauvignon
Ruby in color with a brick rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, plums, wood, licorice, spices, vanilla, cloves, tobacco, earth, coffee, chocolates and peppercorn.
Full bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black plums, cherries, wood, licorice, spices, vegetables, pencil lead, dark chocolates, black pepper, graphite, earth, light vegetables, vanilla, spices and red pepper.
Spicy finish with soft tannins and black pepper.
I had this at a party, and I didn't have the time to let it breath properly. Still, it is drinking nicely. Well balanced and spicy, with mild complexity.
This review is for the wine right out of the bottle. It actually was still closed without much tannins. It needed a couple of hours to open up properly.
Good by itself but better with BBQ Meats.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown at 4000 feet elevation. Aged in New French and American Oak barrels for 12 months.
13.9% alcohol by volume.

2013 vintage. Not as good as 2012, but am a fan of Mendoza wines. This is a good Friday night after a hard week wine. I keep a couple cases on hand. The price point around $19 is pretty incredible as well for this quality of Cab.

Mar 4th, 2016Ripe fruit on nose, palate of chalky cherry and cassis and then... Nothing. The finish is as though it was yanked off the stage. Although nothing amazing on its own, it was a solid companion to lamb chops.
