Not hugely complex, but heavily characterised by the irony component of the terra rossa from Coonawarra. Funny enough it reminded me of an old Chianti from Radda without the racy acidity those wines sometimes bring out

Great drink, so now a great wine; six years looks like the nadir for #2009 #coonawarra ; this #cabernet from #zemaestate

Nicely aged. Soft tannins. Has the Coonawarra Mintyness about it. Zema are great wines that reward ageing

Zema Estate Family Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Drunk: 20170414 with BF & JS
Pair with Wagyu Beef Sirloin and sausages
Cork: in poor condition and seive & decanter

Color: Dark
Body: Full
Nose: Berry and Herbal Medi
Taste: Fruity, tasty, herbal medi licorice

Tasting Note:Dense red-purple; powerful cassis and blackcurrant fruit on the bouquet, together with a touch of oak, is followed by a very tight and powerful palate offering pure Cabernet flavour and structure. A wine for the purist, the tannins guaranteeing longevity.
Vintage:1997
Rating:JH 94

Deep blood red, ever so slight browning at the edges. Lovely rich aromas of mulberry, red fruits, cedar all very attractive. Medium weight, everything integrated and balanced, lots of acid backbone, good length, tannins very soft. Maybe lacks complexity. Good not great wine.

Very fruity and slightly sweet, yet accomplished with slightly papperish.

Held up really well, no oxidisation. Little fruit, good leathery tones, good balance.
